Africa needs digital tech revolution to drive growth — Expert

Abiodun Victor Romiluyi, a network marketing expert has called on African business owners, especially small and medium-scale enterprises (SMEs) to embrace digital technology skills in order to grow their businesses in the 21st-century economy.

The network marketing professional and sapphire manager who works with Forever Living Products International made the call recently during a media parley in Ado Ekiti, capital of Ekiti State where he said there is a lot of potential in digital technology for driving business growth.

“Online platforms, such as Facebook, WhatsApp, and Instagram, among social media, can be useful for branding and marketing business services to a wider audience,” he said.
The Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA) agricultural engineering graduate maintained that as the business world continues to evolve, digital transformation becomes an indispensable device for businesses looking to remain competitive and maximize profits.

Romiluyi reiterated that the imperative of digitisation in the business space for developing countries such as Nigeria cannot be over emphasised.

“Nigeria can join the trend and build innovations that will reposition the economy of this country. Some countries like South Africa, and Kenya are already at the forefront and making significant drives in strengthening their economy,” he said.

The digital networking expert said that the African economy can perform better if the entrepreneurs embrace undisruptive technology and possibly be at par with several other developed nations.

Listing the gains of technology in the networking business, Romiluyi said that emerging undisruptive technologies are making business operations and life of consumers easier. It makes daily tasks faster, efficient and reduces the effort required.

“Networking business is lucrative and can build long-term wealth for anyone. With recent innovations and the availability of social media, it’s much easier to connect with any target audience and engage them with your offers,” he said.

However, he frowned at the level of adoption of technology by Nigerian entrepreneurs which he described as being very low when compared to South Africa, and Kenya, among others.

Romiluyi, who has been instrumental in shaping the network marketing industry and inspiring a new generation of African entrepreneurs with digital skills, started his journey in network marketing immediately after graduation.

“I have taken responsibility to train several young people in digital skills and help them create effective marketing campaigns, build an online presence, and generate leads and sales in their businesses,” he said.

He is among the top 10 Forever Business Owners (FBO) in Nigeria since 2018 and a member of the Executive Committee of FLP Nigeria since 2019.

Dispelling misconceptions about digital marketing, he said the networking business is the new oil well for financial freedom and success in business.

He pointed out that online marketing is the practice of leveraging web-based channels to spread a message about a company’s brand, products, or services to its potential customers.

“Opportunities in networking marketing are numerous. There are many digital marketing jobs out there,” he noted.
