The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced a postponement of the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) registration to Monday, February 3, 2025.
JAMB had earlier scheduled the registration to begin on Friday, January 31, 2025, but for some reason a certain development has changed the commencement of the registration process to February 3.
According to the board, the rescheduling is necessary to implement essential adjustments to the registration process.
“With JAMB 2025 UTME registration now set to begin on February 3, candidates are encouraged to stay updated and ensure they register only at accredited CBT centres. The board remains committed to fairness and integrity in the examination and admission process, and these adjustments are aimed at enhancing transparency and efficiency.”
These changes JAMB explained are due to the recent suspension of certain law programmes in selected universities, as submitted to the board by the Council for Legal Education.
“The discovery of deceptive practices by some Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres, which used unauthorised facilities to gain approval.
These centres will undergo further scrutiny and be disapproved where necessary,” JAMB explained.
Fabian Benjamin, JAMB’s public communication advisor, who tended the board’s apology and commitment said the agency recognised the inconvenience this change may cause to prospective candidates and other stakeholders.
However, he assured that JAMB will give room for additional time to allow for necessary adjustments, ensuring a smooth and more transparent registration process for all candidates.
The new dates according to JAMB are new registration to commence on Monday, February 3, 2025, and end on Wednesday, March 5, 2025. For Direct Entry (DE) registration begins on Monday, March 10, and ends on April 7, 2025.
The mock-UTME examination date is scheduled for Saturday, April 5, 2025; while the main UTME examination date is billed for Friday, April 25 to May 5, 2025.
