The management of the United Bank for Africa (UBA) has visited Governor Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom State as part its Corporate Social Responsibility to condole with him over the church building collapse that claimed many lives.
Led by the Group Managing Director of the Bank, Kennedy Uzoka, the bank also expressed gratitude to God for sparing the life of the Governor and others who attended the church during the tragic incident.
Speaking, Uzoka who said the bank has had a long standing relationship with the state and expressed the management’s sorrow over the disaster.
According to him, the management has been in pains since it heard about the accident and used the occasion to pray for the quick recovery of those injured that are currently receiving medical treatment in hospitals.
“We feel the pains and wish it was possible to reverse what has happen,’’ he said.
Earlier, the state governor solicited the involvement of the private sector in reviving the economy adding that the public sector could hardly function without the participation of the private sector.
He thanked the board and management of the bank for their partnership with the state government and prayed for greater dividends in the coming year.
Governor Udom commended UBA for commiserating with the state on the incident pointing out that more than ninety percent of those who sustained injuries when the building caved-in, have been treated and discharged while few others are receiving treatment in hospitals.
While describing the gesture as an act of true friendship, the governor acknowledged that their condolences to the families of the victims would go a long way in strengthening them and prayed God to heal those receiving treatment on injuries sustained in the mishap.
