NEMA distributes food items, building materials to communities in Kano, Kaduna

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) on Sunday distributed food items and building materials to seven communities in Kano and Kaduna states.

Musa Ilallah, the NEMA North-West zonal coordinator, formally presented the items to the Kano and Kaduna state governments.

He said that the items were meant for the victims of the recent attack by unknown gunmen in Kaura Local Government Area of Kaduna State and victims of the recent windstorm in Rano and Sumaila, Kano State.

Ilallah listed the eight communities that would benefit from the distribution of food items and building materials as Zangang, Tangan, Afan Zangan, Zakum and Tsokong in Kaduna State as well as Rano and Sumaila in Kano State

He said that the items were meant to ameliorate the plight of the affected residents of the communities, urging the state governments to ensure their prompt distribution.

He said that the relief materials, which included 150 bags of rice, 100 bags of maize, 100 bags of millet, 100 bags of cement, 200 bundles of roofing sheets, 50 bags of zinc nails and 50 packets of roofing nails would be distributed in Kaura local government in Kaduna State.

Ilallah also said that 300 bags of cement, 100 bundles of roofing sheets, 100 bags of roofing/zinc nails, 100 bags of rice, maize and guinea corn, 10 bags of sugar, 10 jerry cans of palm oil and 10 jerry cans of vegetable oil would be distributed in Rano and Sumaila in Kano State.

Other items that would be distributed include 150 pieces of shadda and 150 pieces of wax prints, 100 mattresses, 100 towels and 100 mosquito nets, 200 mats, 50 cartons of detergents, 100 buckets, 100 plates and 100 spoons.

Receiving the items on behalf of the Kaduna State government, Ishaku Makama, the executive secretary of the State Emergency Agency (SEMA), commended NEMA for the donation and pledged that the items would be promptly distributed.

Besides, Muhammad Rano, lawmaker representing Rano, Bunkure and Kibia federal constituency in the House of Representatives, also commended NEMA for the donation when he received the items.
