LBS’ alumni association gets new president, two other executives

The Lagos Business School Alumni Association (LBSAA) elected Owen Omogiafo, group CEO at Transcorp Corporation Plc, as its new president last Saturday.

Following its tradition of an automatic handover of the presidency to the vice president, Agada Apochi, MD/CEO at Unified Payments, handed over the baton of presidency to Omogiafo, according to a statement.

Apochi was elected as vice president in May 2020 and became president in 2022. Valentine Okelu, MD/CEO of Neimeth International Pharmaceuticals Plc, was duly elected as the vice president, while Misan Eribo, business development manager at Rand Merchant Bank Nigeria Asset Management was elected as the secretary for the association.

The newly elected officials were also inducted into the Executive Council of the association. Outgoing members of the Exco were appreciated during the ceremony including Frank Aigbogun who served for six years as vice president (2018 – 2020), president (2020 – 2022) and immediate past president (2022 – 2024); Uzoma Dalhatu, assistant company secretary & legal manager, old mutual Nigeria, served for four years as secretary for two tenures (2020 – 2024).

Bisi Adeyemi, MD/CEO of DCSL Corporate Services Limited, Babatunde Daramola, Group CFO at Consolidated Hallmark Holdings Plc., and Bayo Olugbemi, MD/CEO of First Registrars & Investor Services Limited, served for four years as ExCo members for two tenures (2020 – 2024).

Anil Grover, CEO of Afriglobal Medicare Limited and Okey Nwuke, Director of Family Business Initiative at LBS, served for two years as EXCo members (2022-2024).

Other EXCo members include Kofo Akinkugbe, Founder/CEO of SecureID, Ayodeji Balogun, Group CEO at AFEX, Stephanie Obi, Founder at Train Quarters, Isa Omagu, Divisional Head-in-charge of Large Enterprises 1 and Bank of Industry, and Stanley Okpalaeke, MD of Task Systems.

In her acceptance speech, the new president expressed her gratitude to the immediate past president, former president, and members of the Governing Council for their support.

She also expressed her gratitude to the Dean of LBS, Professor Chris Ogbechie and the director of LBS Alumni Relations, Henry Andoh and promised to uphold the ideals of the school and bring her wealth of experience and remarkable track record in leadership and business transformation to the association.

“This is a call to service and a call that commenced a couple of years ago. Nigeria by Nigerians, Africa by Africans and that is our commitment to transforming our great continent. People should see the value here, despite the challenges, the beauty of (the challenges), is that there are a lot of opportunities,” she said.
