International Association of Lions Clubs provides palliatives for communities across Lagos

As part of the ways to achieve one of its objectives of relieving hunger across Nigeria, the International Association of Lions Clubs District 404B2 has commenced the distribution of palliatives to vulnerable communities across Nigeria.

Speaking while presenting palliatives to members of Ojodu Abiodun Community, one of the Communities mapped out by the club for distribution of palliatives,

Ademola Adesoye, District Governor, District 404B2 of Lions Club International said he was excited to be part of those putting smiles in the faces of the less privileged.

“Today we are presenting and sharing food materials to commemorate the District’s ‘Relieving Hunger Programme’ for the people living in Ojodu Abiodun Community, Lagos State. What we do as a district is to conduct community need assessment to ascertain those that need one help or the other.

“We realised that so many people in Ojodu Abiodun Community are battling with hunger. So we decided to extend a helping hand to this Community. Apart from the palliatives we are giving out to people today, we also prepared meals for about 200 people in the community, so they can eat here, while they take the palliatives home,” Adesoye said.

He disclosed that part of the plans of the International Association of Lions Clubs District 404B2 going forward is to replicate this gesture to other communities in Lagos and Ogun State.

Also speaking at the event, the Chairperson of the Activity, Helen Mbakwe, who is also a barrister who was represented by Bunmi Oshinowo and Prince Mark Ebare, said Lions Club came to the Community this new year January 2021 to put smiles on the faces of the less privileged by Feeding the Hungry.

“We are here to give them what we can and make sure their families are happy. Inside each package we have: Rice, garri maggi, salt and noodles. We are giving out over 200 Packs today.

“After we conducted our background research, we realised that the people here really need these food items. We are also replicating what we are doing here to other states across Nigeria. We have other activities lined up for the year 2021, all geared towards helping the needy,” Mbakwe added.
