Integrated Oil & Gas boosted with quality management certification

Integrated Oil & Gas Limited, one of the leading companies in the downstream sector of the Nigerian oil and gas industry, has been awarded the NIS ISO 9001:2008 quality management certificate by the Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON), boosting its capacity to operate in the national and global oil industry.

At the official presentation of the certificate to the company at the weekend, Joseph Odumodu, director general, SON, said it was a giant stride in the pursuit of excellence to provide quality services to clients and is worthy of commendation and emulation by well-meaning business community.

“Any company today that wants to gain a respectable position in the market place will have to work hard to satisfy its customers’ current needs and also be ready for tomorrow’s challenge. The ever-changing needs and requirements in the provision of quality products and services have made it mandatory for organisations to establish and implement a robust management frame that guarantees’ effective performance and improvement in terms of customer satisfaction and profit,” said Odumodu, who was represented by Oluremi Ayeni, deputy director, SON.

He said the surest way to maintain relevance, remain competitive and gain more market share in the global market and more importantly guarantee customer satisfaction is through provision of acceptable products thus making NIS ISO 9001:2008 standard the key for achieving success in business.

The SON DG called on all other organisations in the downstream sector of the oil industry that are yet to be certified to embrace this ISO management approach now for its benefits.

Tony Ihenacho, group managing director, Integrated Oil and Gas, said in 2012 the company saw the need to adopt a more forward-thinking management strategy that would enable it delight customers with goods and services and compete effectively in the global marketplace.

“To achieve this goal, we realised the need to conform to an internationally recognised standard that specifies requirements for quality management system that will enable the company demonstrate its ability to provide products and services that meet customers’ expectations, comply with applicable regulatory requirements, improve on processes and take more active approach to management.

“We as a group are happy for taken this giant stride that led to the attainment of the ISO 9001:2008 certification. Many thanks to Messrs Cristal Services Limited for helping us achieve this feat. With this certificate presentation, not only has Integrated Oil and Gas Limited further raised the bar of quality management in the industry, it has classed us among the rare breeds and a member of global standards fraternity,” said Ihenacho.

He said the tremendous shift from our old ways of doing things to the new system that embraces internationally recognised quality system has not only been beneficial to our organization, but will also profit our teeming customers, government agencies and other stakeholders that we constantly interact with on an everyday basis in the course of doing our business.

Ihenacho added that with the certification, the company had started to experience cost savings in her business activities and enhanced customer satisfaction, adding “We have also recorded substantial growth and positive development in our business, access to new markets and increased market share. This in turn has also improved the safety of operations, protection of the health of staff and our operating environment.”
