ICAN appoints Musibau Olasunkanmi as new CEO

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) has appointed Musibau Olasunkanmi as its new Chief Executive Officer/registrar.

This was revealed in a statement on Friday following the approval of the Governing Council of the Institute given at its December 15, 2023 meeting.

“Olasunkanmi’s appointment was a strategic decision (which) underscored ICAN’s unwavering commitment to nurturing an exceptional leadership team, guiding the Institute toward a future marked by sustained growth and influence,” the statement said.

It said Olasunkanmi assumed the role on Thursday, succeeding Mukaila Lawal, the acting registrar/CEO, who will retire on March 1.

The new CEO has over 16 years of professional experience spanning various functional areas and has held leadership positions in both the private and public sectors.

He holds a PhD in Forensic Accounting & Audit from Charisma University, Turks and Caicos Island, UK; M.Sc. in Accounting from Afe Babalola University; MBA from the University of Lagos; B.Sc. in Accounting from Adekunle Ajasin University; and HND in Accounting from the Federal Polytechnic, Ado-Ekiti.

ICAN expressed anticipation that the innovative leadership of Olasunkanmi would contribute to the organisation’s continued success.
