Hepstar, a market and global insurance aggregator based in Cape Town, has integrated Cornerstone Travel Insurance into Amadeus, a move targeted at simplifying booking travel insurance offerings. Travel agents booking through Amadeus channels will allow for a variety of travel insurance products that offer travellers the comfort of a single booking page.
With the new product offerings, travel agents can now add insurance policy to a flight booking without leaving the booking flow. The new insurance product also allows for automatic trip and traveller details pre-populated capable of checkmating and eliminating double data entry from clients, a statement from the company said.
Kolawole Ladejobi, Head, E-Business and Alternative Markets, Cornerstone Insurance Plc. in the statement said the new product saves time and effort for travel agents. “Insurance bookings are fully integrated into the Passenger Name Record (PNR) and back office systems, allowing for easy reporting and after-sales servicing,” he stated.
According to Kolawole, “Our aim is to revolutionise penetration and distribution of insurance through cutting edge technology. With our partnerships, we have made travel insurance more accessible for Nigerians and seamless for travel agents,” he said.
Claudia Snyman, Hepstar’s COO, in a remark said the new collaboration will make it easier for travel agents in Nigeria to book insurance products smoothly through the GDS. “This will be hugely beneficial for travel agents and travellers alike,” Claudia stated.
Yann Gilbert, GM , Amadeus Nigeria further said in the statement that the company will continue to add new value to the travel ecosystem by ensuring customers have everything they need to offer their travellers the best service. “By integrating insurance content into our channels, travel agents can now save time by booking all the elements of a trip within their existing booking flow and with only a few key strokes,” Yann said.
“By taking out travel insurance you are essentially covering yourself against travel risks such as lost or stolen luggage, cancellation cover and most importantly, unexpected medical costs abroad,” Donald Ullah, a representative of Rewards Travel, one of the pilot customers selling insurance through Amadeus in Nigeria said.
He opined, “Selling Cornerstone products through Amadeus takes no time and is extremely easy. It is allowing our travel consultants to offer a complete and very competitive travel service to our customers.’’
