Chisco Express set to make logistics smarter in Africa with technology

In a bid to improve time to market, increase cost efficiency and predictability, Chisco Express, an innovative logistics company, has assured on leveraging technology and world best practices to enable Africa’s commerce, starting from West Africa, its base.

With technology, Chisco Express hopes to save time, reduce errors, and improve decision making with integrations that automate the flow of information between its data points and partner systems.

The new entrant in the logistics business, which describes itself as a technology logistics company, is an independent entity out of the Chisco Group, and is backed by a founding team with over 70 years cumulative experience in technology, logistics and supply chain, as well as leveraging close relationship with the mother company.

The logistics company is setting itself apart from others by implementing the logistics-as-a-service (LaaS) business model, using a centralized data-driven marketplace for the African market for goods movement from origin to last mile.

Moreover, the company, which commenced operations on March 24, 2020, is latching onto its purpose- built software and data analytics platform to offer timely and quality driven services to the clients across Africa while unlocking opportunities for financial institutions.

However, it is not starting from scratch, rather leveraging on the established brand and inroads of the Chisco Group spanning over 40 years, and over 800 fleet capacity across West Africa to jumpstart its market entry.

According to Obinna Anyaegbu, CEO/co-founder, Chisco Express, the logistics company is truly driven by technology and that is the difference it is bringing to the business.

“We are leveraging technology developed and owned to optimize our cost, deliver value and operate efficiently and mitigate potential risks using our asset-right model”, he said.

Speaking further, Anyaegbu said, “Our goal is to establish market presence and dominance across the major port cities in West and East Africa. We will ensure our services are multilingual to cater for the Francophone countries”.

To realize the dream, Chisco Express has identified the eight major African countries and cities it aims to operate in within the next five years, and has taken a conservative approach to its regional expansion, targeting mainly West and East African countries.

It is also positioning for growth by securing a long-term growth sector with identified embedded partners, and ready to expand into already identified 10 African cities outside Nigeria.

Part of the difference it is bringing to the table is combining air carrier and consolidator relationships with a powerful software for airfreight service that is predictable, affordable, and tailored to meet customer’s needs.

While it commenced operation last year, the logistic company hopes to become Africa’s first tech-logistic led commerce enabler in 2021, and in the long run, to be operational in 10 international markets across Africa and to grow profit to $20 million, with a valuation of $500 million by December 2023.
