BuuPass acquires QuickBus in push for expansion

Airlines continue ticket sales despite planned shut down

Airlines have continued to sell tickets beyond the date announced for the proposed service shutdown

BuuPass, a digital travel booking platform in Kenya, has acquired QuickBus, a major bus ticketing service in Nigeria and South Africa to expand its operations.

According to the statement by the company, the acquisition increased the active user accounts on BuuPass to 65,000 monthly which shows its large intercity transport bookings in Africa.

Sonia Kabra, co-founder of BuuPass expressed his excitement of its expansion in Africa as they search for more opportunities to bring their platform to new African markets.

“BuuPass aims to create a comprehensive network of interconnected transport options for seamless global and continental travel. This acquisition is a significant milestone toward that goal,” he said.

Wyclife Omondi, co-founder of Founders Factory Africa said she is thrilled to integrate QuickBus’ routes in Nigeria and South Africa and onboard major partners such as MTN, Voda, and FNB.

“These partnerships will help us reach new customers and enhance connectivity and convenience for millions.”

BuuPass is a mobility marketplace that helps users search, compare, and book their travel tickets across different channels. It was founded in 2016 with a record of over six million travel tickets sold and over $100 million generated in GMV.
