Governor Theodore Orji of Abia State has handed over 30 brand new Nissan Urvan and Toyota Hiace buses to Abia Line Network Company Limited (ALNC), the state-owned transport outfit.
While performing the handover ceremony at Government House, Umuahia, weekend, Orji noted that it was one of the steps toward the transformation agenda of President Goodluck Jonathan.
He explained that the Federal Government gave him all the encouragement to obtain the loan with which he procured the buses from Infrastructure Bank Plc with an interest of four per cent which would spread for a period of three years, disclosing that ten additional new buses for the agency would soon be delivered.

The Abia governor expressed displeasure over the mismanagement of the state owned transport outfit since its establishment, adding that instead of the company growing it has continued to dwindle.
“The management refused to pay salaries to workers when the agency is supposed to be self-sustaining”, Orji said.
He said that with the boosting of the fleet of the agency, more employment opportunities have been created for Abians.
