‘I’ll make Nasarawa most top three competitive state by 2023’
Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State has said that by 2023, Nasarawa State would become one of the most top three competitive states in Nigeria.
Governor Sule made this known when he presented a copy of the Nasarawa Economic Development Strategy (NEDS) to the United Nations Deputy Secretary-General, Amina Mohammed, on the sidelines of the 74th UNGA in New York.
This was contained in a press statement issued to BusinessDay Saturday and signed by the Director-General, strategic communication, and press affairs to the governor in Lafia.
The Governor said that his administration was going to introduce “a business model that would tackle the root causes of poverty in the state”.

In the statement, the governor, however, reaffirmed the commitment of his to industrialized Nasarawa, which is the fulcrum of his administration’s mission and goal.
According to the statement, “the basis of building enduring systems and business models that will tackle the root causes of poverty in the state is underway”.
It is stated that his aim as the Governor was to project the State “to become one of the top three most competitive states in Nigeria by 2023.
“which is why he conceived a bold, untested and futuristic document called NEDS: Nasarawa Economic Development Strategy.
“And then he sought 15 through-bred global economic players and conscripted them into a think tank called Nasarawa State Economic and Investment Advisory Council, which he  tasked to bring to bear their wealth of experience and ginger the implementation of Nasarawa Economic Development Strategy (NEDS) as a pathway to unlock all constraints which may have hitherto hindered the inflow of investments into Nasarawa State in the past.”

The statement, however, quoted the UN Deputy Secretary-General Amina Mohammed as commending the governor for  exhibiting a futuristic vision and unfettered political will in the state
Mohammed said the modern approach to governance which is in sync with the global call for governments especially in Africa to promote a start-up culture among young Africans.
Mohammed said the decision of Governor Sule to focus on industrialization on the basis of NEDS: (Nasarawa Economic Development Strategy) is intelligent and timely.
She hopes that the team will lead to a concrete economic transformation in Nasarawa State.
