Group urges Nigeria to reduce poverty by cryptocurrency adoption

Down, down, down cryptos, as Asian choke tightens

A group, The Billion Coin (TBC), says Nigeria would reduce poverty if residents of the country embrace cryptocurrency despite that government has not generally accepted the coins in the market.

The group stated this in Enugu recently in its first international conference in Southeast Nigeria to educate the residents on how to make benefit from the coin through their blockchain.

The Billion Coin team notes that the cryptocurrency provides a platform to curb corruption because every transaction is accounted for in the blockchain, which only a member has the password for login.

BusinessDay reports that the team visited rural communities in Ngbo Ohaukwu Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, where food items were distributed to the indigents.

They also visited and distributed items to indigent patients at Alex Ekwueme Federal Teaching Hospital and Holy Ghost Secondary School, all in Abakaliki, and urged the people to join TBC Community to earn more dividends from the currency.

A goodwill ambassador of the group, Mbeh Derick from Cameron, who spoke with journalists, stated that TBC objective was to lift hundreds of Nigerians from abject poverty.

He said the life-changing conference would hold in Enugu, Abuja, and Lagos between March 1 and 15, 2020.

According to Derick, TBC is not just about money, but about humanity and the dignity that humans deserve.

“We are in Nigeria for two purposes, for goodwill and to feed some localities, to show the people what our intention is.

“We are here to train Nigerians because we have more than one million people in Nigeria, who are registered members, and many of them don’t understand TBC objective, they are there for the money. TBC is not about money, TBC is about humanity, we want the best for humanity,” he said.

Solo Amahaotu, the national coordinator, while corroborating Derick, noted that, their members would be equipped with the technical aspect of the coin so that they would be able to explore the opportunities and get more members.

He said the strength of the coin was by its membership not by money, saying, “TBC is a worldwide organisation. It has the aspiration and vision of eradicating poverty globally. It is not a small feat to eradicate poverty in the world of over 7 billion people. TBC wants to eradicate poverty by having a membership of a billion people in the whole world call it a new country without borders.

“As of now we have over 50 million people and we are still growing. In Nigeria, we have more than 1.6 million members. It’s not new but everybody doesn’t know about TBC in the country and Nigerians need to know and free themselves from poverty.”

Amaechi Okeh, a member, in his remarks, explained that every member had control of his or her wallet and that TBC doesn’t charge transaction fee rather a member pay administrative fee after registering, and that will give the person access to more features.

He enjoined more people in Southeast to register with TBC and enjoy its dividends in the future, noting, “TBC is so unique in terms of wallet features: It is the only crypto-wallet that has a global currency conversion options. It has customized fees charge options, administrative fees.

“TBC wallet has a live transaction history which contains confirmation and the transaction identity, which is linking to the public ledger that serves as the receipt of any transaction made in the wallet it is very easy to operate.”

Earlier in a remark, the programme coordinator Southeast, Mr. Isaac Priston Ikegwu, noted that the conference will educate TBC members a lot about the coin.

His words: “When you hear the sound of the coin you know we are talking about currency, but this time around it’s a digital currency. The reason why we organized the conference is to tell the world and tell the people of Enugu that this is what the digital currency is all about.

“There are agitations and negative issues about the market coins because of volatility in certain areas and because we are saying this is different, why is it different, we want the world to know and that is why the conference has come up”.
