The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) has disclosed that the 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) generated a cumulative sum of N612.87 billion Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) for the Half Year 2020.
At the Q1 2020, the figure stood at N353.14bn, while it is N259.73 billion at the Q2 2020, indicating a negative growth of – 26.5% quarter on quarter. The bureau made this available on its website.
NBS stated that the IGR from the 36 states and the FCT for 2019 was at N693.91bn, which indicates a negative growth of -11.7% year on year.
The report showed that Lagos state had the highest IGR of N204.51bn recorded in H1 2020, closely followed by Rivers state with N64.59bn, while Jigawa state recorded the least at N3.005bn.
It further revealed that in the Nort East, Bauchi state got the highest IGR of N5.752bn in H1 2020, closely followed by Borno state with N5.379. Gombe had the least at N3.787bn.
In the South East, the report shows that Enugu state had the highest IGR of N12.262bn in H1 2020, closely followed by Anambra state with N9.546bn. Abia state got the least at N6.188bn.
The report also indicates that in the North West, Kano state led the chart with N17.509bn, closely followed by Kaduna state with N14.549bn.
In the North Central, Plateau state had the highest IGR of N9.400bn, closely followed by Kogi state with N7.434bn, FCT recorded N35.206bn in H1 2020.
