Ugwuanyi emerges most efficient governor of the Year

It was a night of glitz, pomp and rewards for excellence as Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State emerged as the Most Efficient Governor of the year at the grand finale of the fifth Annual Brand and Marketing Conference of Brand Journalists Association of Nigeria (BJAN), organised to reward outstanding performances by individuals, brands and service providers across the country.

At the Awards and Gala Nite held at the Nike Lake Hotel and Resorts, Enugu, recently, Governor Ugwuanyi was said to have been recognised based on his efficient revenue utilization, infrastructure development and focus on the welfare of workers.

According to BJAN, the award, which was conferred on Governor Ugwuanyi was also informed by milestones recorded by the administration in Enugu in the areas of infrastructure development and prompt salaries payment in the face of dwindling oil revenue which has challenged most other states in the country.

Apart from the Enugu State governor, his counterpart in the neighboring state, Abia  State governor, Okezie Ikpezu went home with the Best Made in Nigeria promoter of the year, while  Steve Ayorinde, Lagos State Commissioner for Information and Strategies bagged Best Information Manager (Public).

For leading telecommunications company, Airtel, went home with two awards.

While  Segun Ogunsanya, Chief Executive Officer, Airtel Nigeria got the recognition as the Best Indigenous CEO of the Year;  Enitan Denloye, Vice President, Brands and Marketing, Airtel Nigeria emerged Marketing Director of the Year.

Also at the awards ceremony,  Nnamdi John Okonkwo, MD, Fidelity Bank Plc was given the CEO of the Year, while Best Corporate Brand Manager Award went to the duo of  Nkiru Olumide-Ojo of Stanbic Bank and Folake Ani-Mumeney of First Bank and also President, Advertisers Association of Nigeria, ADVAN.

Kufre Ekanem of Nigerian Breweries Plc and  Anthony Chiejina of Dangote emerged as Best Image Makers (Private). The Best Campaign Manager of the Year award went to  Segun Ogunleye, Marketing Manager, Seven-Up Bottling Company.

Another notable award given at the gala night was the Most Efficient Public Office Manager award which was won by  Babatunde Fowler, the Executive Chairman, FIRS.

The Group Chief Executive Officer, Verdant Zeal Communications emerged BJAN Flag bearer of the Year.
