Two prominent agencies that are part of Omnicom Group – BBDO and Goodby Silverstein & Partners – were forced to make sizeable staff cuts Thursday due to client losses.
BBDO’s cuts were linked to the agency’s recent loss of one of its biggest US accounts, Procter & Gamble’s Gillette just weeks ago. After a seven-month review, the business was awarded to WPP’s Grey, a major blow give BBDO’s relationship with the brand spanned nearly 80 years.
A spokesman for BBDO declined to comment on the number of staffers who were eliminated, but characterised the cuts as “significant and across departments.”
