Sterling Bank has reaffirmed its dedication to empowering Nigeria’s next generation of entrepreneurs through a strategic partnership with the Young Professionals (YP) Lagos.

The event, held at Landmark Towers Lagos, brought together 135 emerging entrepreneurs and industry leaders in a forum designed to inspire innovation, mentorship, and business excellence.

“We recognise that empowering entrepreneurs is key to driving national development,” said Bolanle Tyson, the head of SMEs at Sterling Bank in a press release on the event. “Beyond financial inclusion, we are committed to providing tangible, long-term solutions such as our co-working spaces at Café One and alternative energy solutions through Imperium that enable small businesses to scale effectively.”

The bank explained that it’s commitment extends beyond direct financial support. It revealed that it is developing — in partnership with the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency (SMEDAN) — an MSME databank to streamline access to essential certifications and documentation, removing barriers that often hinder business growth.

The YP Lagos Mentorship Session provided a platform for young professionals to gain insights from industry experts, including Rotimi Lijofi, the CEO of Selfa Rotimi; and Babatola Akinkugbe, the managing director of Arabella Landscape Limited.

One of the highlights of the event was the business pitch competition, where Sterling Bank awarded grants to outstanding entrepreneurs.
