Operators in Nigeria’s $1 billion baby product industry to converge on Lagos for trade fair

Players, including manufacturers, wholesalers, retailers and parents in Nigeria’s estimated $ 1 billion baby product industry will converge on Lagos next month for one of the biggest trade fairs on baby products in Nigeria.

With growing Nigeria’s population and increasing number of parents looking for quality products, the market has seen a surge in demand for everything from diapers, toys, wears, shoes, electronic devices to baby food.

The forum scheduled for March 29-31 in Lagos is therefore expected to foster partnerships within the industry and offer international and local brands seeking for regional partners and parents the opportunity for engage and buy products at discounted rates.

Abimbola Anifowose, Co-founder of the exclusive fair entitled ‘9jababy Tradefair’ told BusinessDay recently that the fair will attract over 10,000 parents, 100 retailers, over 50 distributors, attendees and buyers.

Abimbola who is the CEO of Monmartt Stores also said that exhibitors will have the opportunity to expand their network with key decision-makers nationwide and globally, enhance brand visibility in the Nigerian parental, baby and early years market and showcase their products and services, educating the audience on the benefits.

Sulaimon Mujidat Omolabake, another brain behind the 9jababytrade fair idea said as parents, they understand the overwhelming choices and he joy that comes with bringing new life into the world. “That is why we have joined forces to create an extra-ordinary event that caters to all parents under one roof.

She said that at the event, parents will have the opportunity to access variety of products and have discounts while retailers and manufacturers will have more market exposure, sales boost, market insight and networking opportunities.

The trade fair organisers also unveiled Wunmi Toriola, an actress; Uche Ogbodo, an actress and model and Toyin Abraham, a producer as brand influencers.
