Shileola Ibironke, managing director of Micromedia Group, has boosted Nigeria’s entertainment industry with opening of cutting-edge animation studio, Kibi Quazi in Lagos
The launch of Micromedia Animation Studios marks a milestone in the African entertainment industry, responding to the increasing demand for high-quality graphic animated content rooted in African stories.
Speaking to newsmen at the unveiling of the studio, Ibironke, according to a statement emphasized the critical need for locally produced animated content. “We’ve witnessed a surge in the appetite for animated storytelling in Africa. However, much of the content consumed is imported. Micromedia Animation Studios aims to change that narrative by creating 2D and 3D animation series and feature films thereby providing a platform for African animators to showcase their talent and creativity,” Ibironke stated.

The studio’s flagship series, “Kibi Quazi,” has already garnered positive feedback, setting the stage for an exciting line-up of three upcoming releases in the coming year, Power Chord Girls, SAGi and TWOA. Ibironke expressed confidence that the studio would not only elevate the quality of African animation but also serve as a launchpad for budding animators and digital media enthusiasts.
The statement described Shileola Ibironke as a leading voice in Nigeria’s media landscape, founding and serving as the MD/CEO of the Micromedia Group of Companies, owners of Nigeria’s foremost content production and distribution company alongside retail product chain- Shopping Malls, Heritage Cinemas, Superstores/Bakery & Sports Lounge.
She is renowned for her executive producer roles in ground-breaking TV Series such as “Taste of Love” the first independent telenovela drama series in West Africa, as well as Igbo and Yoruba movies that are showcased on Amazon Prime Video.
