Imported ice cream brands face stiff competition as FanRoyale enters market

FanRoyale-Ice-Cream

After a thorough consumer research, Fan Milk Nigeria plc last weekend in Lagos introduced three different blends of FanRoyale Ice Cream into the Nigerian market.

The product, launched at Amber Residence in Ikeja GRA, comes in Vanilla Strawberry stripping, Cappuccino Chocolate Chip, and Rum and Raisins, and are for all age categories.

With the launch, Fan Milk is expanding its market offering to meet consumer demand as Nigerian market expands.

With the offering, which tastes nice, the proudly Nigerian and first-of-its-kind indigenous premium ice cream product company, says it is poised to be a competition brand to the likes of Blue Bunny and other similar imported ice cream products.

The product, which is well packaged to the delight of ice cream lovers, also comes in different sizes with ice cream spoon neatly wrapped in the cover of the cup.

Speaking at the launch, the managing director of the company, Steen Hadsbjerg says it is a product that has been on the way for years, as “we tested the market before launching the product.”

FanRoyale Ice Cream is available for purchase in major supermarkets stores in Nigeria, he says, stating that several experiential launch activities including print, outdoor, TV commercial and promos have been scheduled to create awareness and delicious experience of the product.

Also speaking, Charity Ilevbare, the brand manager, notes that the company has been serving Nigeria with affordable products and “we decided to take the products higher to compete with international brands.”

According to her, “lovers of ice cream and its indulgent nature should watch out for the ‘Royale Lounge’ popping up in select locations in Lagos, Port Harcourt and Abuja, where they will be exclusively pampered by the FanRoyale brand.” The Royale Lounge would make its first appearance in Ikeja City Mall on April 18, this year, as the company is riding on the back of Easter to introduce the product.

Fan Milk plc was incorporated in 1961, and commenced full responsibility of churning out product choices to all Nigerians since 1963. It started with a diary factory in Ibadan and a distribution centre in Lagos. In 1981, a second dairy plant was commissioned in Kano.

Today, Fan Milk distribution network covers most of Nigeria. From major distribution centres, mini distribution centres, depots, agents, franchise holders, Fan Milk products are channelled to its teeming customers across the length and breadth of the country.

Fan Milk’s most popular product is frozen yoghurt – a fermented milk product. Other dairy products are chocolate milk and ice cream, as well as fruit drink called FanDango.
