As part of efforts to increase its marketing distribution platform, Multichoice Nigeria has joined the trend in taking advantage of online shopping. In line with this, it has entered into partnership with Konga.com, a leading online shopping platform to make DStv mobile range of products available on the online marketing platform.

Online shopping in Nigeria has been on a rapid increase in recent times, partly due to the convenience it provides and perhaps due to level of education and the increased exposure of Nigerians to technology, especially through mobile devices. Online shopping or online retailing is a form of electronic commerce that allows consumers to directly buy goods or services from a seller over the internet.

It is perhaps this convenience and the delivery method in online shopping that encouraged DStv to include the online method in its distribution channels, as it is expected that more consumers may navigate to online shopping. Already, there is strong confidence from international and local investors on the potential dominance of online shopping in the retail market.

Under the agreement with Konga.com, DStv mobile range of products will be available on Konga.com online shops, as consumers are endeared to enjoin its various benefits as explained by Philip Akesson, vice president of Konga.com.

According to him, standing as a distribution channel, the online retailer will ease products purchase for consumers, explaining that consumers who make purchases would get the delivery at their convenience without incurring additional expenses.

Online stores are usually available 24 hours a day, and many consumers have internet access both at work and at home. It was gathered that the DStv mobile range of devices ordered through Konge.com will be delivered within one to three days within Lagos, and within three to five days outside Lagos in all cities with DVBH coverage at no additional cost.

Akesson also explained that in the event of a problem with the item, Konga.com will bear the stress of correcting the problem both financially and logistically.

To make use of the online retail shop, a customer should simply visit the online shop, read through the list of features of each device and select his preference. Payment options include pay-on-delivery (available in Lagos, Abuja and Port Harcourt) or via a debit card from most Nigerian banks. DStv mobile services are currently available in Lagos, Port Harcourt, Abuja, Ibadan, Kaduna, Aba, Enugu, Benin and Asaba
