Kano Pillars try Enyimba for size in NPFL cracker

Kano Pillars try Enyimba for size in NPFL cracker

As the Nigerian Premier Football League (NPFL) enters its eight of the 38 weeks, Kano Pillars will seek to take a ‘pound of flesh’ as they host former foes Enyimba International from Aba city.

The game billed to be played inside the Sanni Abacha stadium in Kano will see Pillars who suffered a heavy 0-3 thrashing in the hands of the high-flying Sporting Lagos in their last match, will try to bounce back with a win over the defending league champions, Enyimba.

On the other hand, the People’s Elephant as Enyimba is popularly known by its teeming fans will try to continue its redemption fight to be able to navigate out of their murky waters of poor performances seen both at the continental competitions, and local league earlier on.

Though the Aba Elephants won their last game against Kwara United by a lone goal, their performance was not convincing enough to many of the team’s supporters.

Many pundits believe the epic game will be a cracker as both teams seek to improve their positions on the NPFL table with Pillars on 10th position after seven matches and Enyimba at the 16th after four games.

In Owerri, it will be Heartland with four points after seven matches, winning none, drawing four and losing three, and are unenviably at the bottom of the log hosting Bayelsa United who are in the 19th position with six points after seven matches, winning just two, and losing five.

It will unarguably be a game of the survival of the league table bottom occupiers. Christian Obi, the head coach of the Naze-Owerri team is expected to work on his defence to curtail fireworks from the Yenagoa club side.

Fabian Omaka, who was brought in from Enyimba, Tunde Franklin, from Sunshine, Ezekiel Bassey, and Prince Onuoha, among others will be expected to rise to the occasion make the fans happy after a busy day at the polling boots.

Some pundits believe the game at Dan Anyiam stadium will end in a score draw on Saturday, November 11, 2023.

For the Doma United against Akwa United match much is not expected as both teams are struggling in the middle of the log for Doma and relegation threat for Akwa.

The Savannah Tigers will try to consolidate their 12th position on the table by avoiding defeat at Pantami Staduim, while the Uyo team will rely on experience to edge out their host and improve the position on the log.

The Akinade Onigbinde coached team continue their quest for a continental ticket by ensuring the Fatai Osho led team from Akwa Ibom does not get a point in the encounter.

Doma United with Umar Adamu, Enefiok Samuel, Simon Success, and Emmanuel Ogwuche, among others are expected to bring out another sintilative performance that made them held Bendel Insurance to a goalless draw away at Benin City.
