Christmas: Easy steps to make pancakes at home

Christmas: Easy steps to make pancakes at home

Now that the holiday is upon us, let’s take time to try out new recipes different from conventional foods.

Pancakes might not look like a lot, but they are healthy and quite easy to prepare.

Ingredients you need

Flour: A cup of all-purpose flour.

Sugar: Two tablespoons of white sugar.

Baking powder: This acts as a leavening agent, it makes the pancakes fluffy.

Salt: Salt enhances the overall flavor of the pancakes, but it won’t make the pancakes taste salty.

Milk and oil: Milk and oil add moisture and flavour to the pancake batter.

Egg: A beaten egg lends more moisture and helps bind the batter together.

Procedure

In a large mixing bowl, combine the dry ingredients; flour, baking powder and sugar. Add the wet ingredients.. milk, melted butter, egg and vanilla extract and mix. Mix to ensure ingredients are well combined.

Heat your nonstick pan to medium heat. Scoop about ⅓ cup of pancake batter directly into middle of the pan. Let cook until top begins to bubble and edges are golden. Flip pancake over and let cook another minute or until bottom is golden. Repeat with remaining batter.

To keep your pancakes warm while cooking, place on a plate and cover with a clean towel.

What to Serve With Pancakes

Serve warm pancakes with butter, syrup and your favorite fresh fruit.

You can also enjoy them with whipped cream, blueberry compote, fresh fruit, or with scrambled eggs and bacon.

What to do with leftover

Store leftover in an airtight container in the fridge for about a week, you can also freeze them for up to two months. You can reheat them in the microwave when ready to eat them.
