On Friday 28 November 2025, at Regal Hall, Ikosi Road, Oregun, LANI Group, through its social impact arm, LANI Foundation presented the inaugural Angeline Uyi Bassey (AUB) Prize for Best Female Student in Extractive Industries Taxation.
The group celebrated not only academic excellence, but a promise: that Nigeria’s fiscal institutions and extractive sectors will be stronger when we intentionally invest in talent and mentorship.
The prize was established in memory of Angeline Uyi Bassey, FCTI, a trailblazer whose career spanned PwC UK and PwC Nigeria, service as General Manager, Audit at the Nigerian Ports Authority, and the founding of LANI Group.
A founding member of the Nigerian Taxation Standards Board and the first female port manager in the Southern Hemisphere, Angeline’s life stood for professional rigour, principled leadership and institutional reform. It is in that spirit we mark this milestone.
Oluyedun Olajumoke Juwerat was announced as the inaugural winner. Oluyedun stood out for her technical mastery, integrity and commitment to professional development, qualities that echo Angeline’s own standards.

Teresa Bassey, a member of the board of Trustees’ of the LANI Foundation, whose distinguished career in aeromedical and public-health practice underpins her long-standing dedication to community service and capacity building.
In the spirit of unity and shared purpose, the ceremony welcomed several Friends of the Foundation who have long stood beside LANI Group’s mission. Among those present were relatives of Angeline Uyi Bassey, as well as distinguished supporters. Their presence further affirmed the depth of community and institutional goodwill behind this partnership.
As Ani Charles Bassey-Eyo, CEO of LANI Group, reiterated: “This prize is a tribute to AUB’s lifelong devotion to professional integrity and institutional strength, investing in emerging female professionals is an investment in better governance and stronger economies across the region.”
Bassey-Eyo said the prize is only the first of several legacy initiatives the Foundation will pursue.
He said from 2026, LANI Foundation will partner with the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (CITN) to roll out a professional mentoring programme designed to pair emerging female tax professionals with senior practitioners, provide practical training and open networks that translate into careers and impact.
“Strong, professional tax and extractive sectors are central to national development, and diversity at senior levels improves decision-making, fairness and long-term stability. Small investments in mentorship and recognition create outsized returns for institutions and communities.
“To Oluyedun, congratulations, we look forward to seeing where your talent and discipline take you,” Bassey-Eyo said.
