…set to discover new talents in Nigeria

It is no hidden fact that many great musicians the world over had their big breaks from their various place of worship, majority of which is the church before they even launched into the world; so better way to search out and promote talents, than from this unending source.

And so for the past six years, God’s Children Great Talent (GCGT) has dedicated resources to discover exceptionally talented children and youths from 5 – 20 years old.  The family entertainment show has grown to become a highly anticipated competition as GCGT create opportunities for young Nigerians across the country to showcase their talent, with the hope of being able to make a remarkable impression on stage and before the judges with a chance to win great prizes.

GCGT, Africa’s number one gospel children and youth talent competition has unveiled activities for its 7th season. The announcement made at a star studded media unveil event highlighted the call- for-entry flag off, indicating GCGT’s readiness to begin another journey of discovering new talents in Nigeria that will inspire many lives.

Commenting at the event, GCGT trustee and member of the organising team, Pastor Bimbo Ozomah said;

“God’s Children Great Talent has continued to reign as the number one gospel talent show since it kicked off in 2011. It has remained the only talent competition series that gives entertainers between ages 5 – 20 years old a chance to showcase their unique skills to a national audience through a syndicated broadcast of the family show. This year, GCGT Season 7 promises to be even more inspiring.” Ozomah enthused.

Mrs Adedoyin Odumfa: This year promises to be bigger better and filled with several exciting incentives and we are grateful for the support of everyone involved. This year we have a bigger price; we will be giving cash price of N10m, a brand new car and a management deal worth N250m. We expect this edition to attract a lot more people and talent.

In attendance at the media unveil were three previous winners, known as GCGT Ambassadors, Praise Olorunsuyi who won season 5.

A senior pastor in attendance while speaking said, “Christian and gospel music is an established genre in music and looking at the Nigeria scene, we see that a lot of artistes are making waves across the globe.

“It’s interesting that popular as Elvis Presley was, he didn’t win any Grammy except in gospel music. His two Grammy awards, not nominations (these were numerous), real awards, first in 1967 with “How great thou art”, and then in 1972 with “He touched me”. So as significant as we think about this, this platform will be producing Grammy Award winning artistes. It will soon come to pass in our time”.

While Uti Nwachukwu and Ayo Thompson were unveiled as hosts for GCGT Season 7, Award winning singer, Omawumi; world renowned choreographer, Kaffy; and music producer, TY Mix were announced as judges for this new season.

Just like the previous years, audition centres are in Lagos, Abuja and Port Harcourt, and will have regional judges in those cities, though the judges being unveiled will also visit those cities after the initial auditions to be part of the finals in those cities.

All participants are expected to go through the GCGT Academy which was inspired by the competition itself as a platform to train and enhance the talents as well as prepare successful talents for the grand finale and the real world)

In attendance at the media unveiling were senior pastors from ‘House of David Parish, musician Darey Art Alade, three past winners of GCGT amongst others.

GCGT is a platform that is Christ centred, for producing great talents and it’s televised as a series on MTV.
