How representing Taos Beauty Brand gave us purpose- Brand Ambassadors

Oyinkansola Femi-Oyewole and Orji Chinenye Precious are the new faces of Tao Beauty Brand, one of the recognised makeup brands in Nigeria. In an interview with BusinessDay, the young ladies discussed how it feels winning and pushing the brand to make it more acceptable to people.

How does it feel to be the face of Taos beauty brand?

Oyinkansola: It feels amazing being the face of Taos beauty brand. I have always liked Taos right from when I first came across the brand on Instagram sometime in 2016 and I never thought I would be the face of the brand. This feels particularly good because Taos is a brand that I actually love their products even before they announced that they would be searching for a face for the brand.

Chinenye: I would say that it is mind-blowing because a lot of qualified ladies applied for the position but I guess I was lucky to represent the brand’s DNA.

What inspired you to go for the competition?

Oyinkansola: This year, i decided to take my content creation a little more seriously and so when the opportunity to be the face of the brand came up, I felt that it was the perfect opportunity to get things up and running especially because like I said earlier, I really like Taos beauty brand. I also would love to grow with the brand and be a part of its success story.

Chinenye: I came across the competition by chance, and I was confident about the products under the flagship as I use them. Been associated with the brand as its face will propel me to greater heights and its tremendous benefits will be a stepping stone for my long term goals

What can you say about the competition process and what have you learnt going through that process?

Oyinkansola: It was a beautiful process. I really like the fact that to enter the competition you had to be a customer and what better way to represent the brand than someone who already uses and likes your products. For me, it reinforced the fact that you lose 100 percent of the chances you don’t take. If for whatever reason I decided not to enter the competition, I wouldn’t have been here today.

Chinenye: There were a lot of beautiful and qualified ladies also gunning for the prize; the competition was fair and transparent. The major lesson for me was it pays to think outside the box as I believe I won because I was able to show talent and creativity.

Winning the competition, what does it mean to you?

Oyinkansola: It means a lot to me. It also further shows that people enjoy the content I create and that my creative process is good enough for brands to recognize and want to be associated with.

Chinenye: Honestly, I love makeup, the gratifying feeling a woman has once she has someone and looks at the mirror, the confidence it gives. Winning the competition felt like I was doing something right and basically progressing and confident with life as the ASUU strike made me feel redundant.

Since you are now the face of the beauty brand, how will you push the brand to make it more acceptable to people?

Oyinkansola: Like I mentioned earlier, I am a content creator and I run a page on Instagram and a channel on youtube and I believe that I would be able to introduce Taos to a new audience who would love their products just as much as I do.

Chinenye: By being me, the combination of myself with Taos brand will be electrifying. I intend to showcase my talent and creativity with the brand as our goal is to bring onboard customers who will in time be advocates of the brand. I have so many ideas on how this will be done and I am confident the brand will feel my impact… Fingers crossed.
