Tanzania’s President Samia Suluhu Hassan began a three-day visit to Indonesia today. The president’s visit to the nation in Southeast Asia is intended to strengthen the two countries’ relationship, which saw significant advancement in August 2023 when the head of state of Indonesia decided to travel to Tanzania. Samia Suluhu, the president, wants to sign new agreements.
According to The Citizen, a Tanzanian publication, Tanzania’s president, Samia Suluhu Hassan, arrived in Indonesia today with the goal of establishing new trade relations with the nation.
The report shows that the Tanzanian president got right to work after arriving, discussing the enormous potential for extensive cooperation between the two nations. Pahala Nugraha Mansury, Indonesia’s Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs, greeted the president.
Her Excellency’s visit to the nation in Southeast Asia follows the president of Indonesia, Joko Widodo,’s recent visit to the people of Tanzania. President Joko Widodo traveled to Tanzania in August 2023 in an effort to enhance their bilateral ties. Seven significant agreements spanning multiple industries were reached as a result of this visit, including those related to mining, energy, military, agriculture, cattle, fisheries and the blue economy, and the waiver of visa requirements for holders of diplomatic and service passports.
But strengthening relationships in the fields of investment, agriculture, and education is the main goal of President Samia’s visit to Indonesia.
“The visit signifies a significant step forward in our bilateral relations,” said January Makamba, Tanzania’s Foreign Affairs Minister.
He added; “We are confident that President Hassan’s fruitful interactions with Indonesian leaders will unlock fresh avenues for collaboration and benefit our people in both countries.”
Samia Suluhu Hassan has adopted an investment-based strategy to expand Tanzania’s economy ever since taking office.
Thus far, the president’s effort has touched many sectors of the economy, including tourism, energy, innovation, and agriculture.
Additionally, she has amassed a wide network of investors, ranging from far-flung South Korea to regional partners like Uganda in its oil (Eacop) project. Due to this strategy, Tanzania has developed into a hub for investment.
Tanzania currently stands as one of the top investment destinations in Africa.
