As Bayelsa State prepares to hold local government elections come Saturday, March 23, the Nigeria Police and Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) said they were ready for the elections.
Kings Omire, Bayelsa police commissioner, disclosed that 8,500 policemen would monitor the local government and that while 3,500 would be stationed at the various polling units, 5,000 would patrol the state.
NSCDC, on his part, disclosed that they would deploy 828 personnel for the local government elections and they would be drawn from both the state headquarters and the various local government units.
Desmond Agu, the state commandant, also warned that anyone found with weapons would be arrested and prosecuted and advised his men not to be used by politicians stressing that all those found wanting would be dealt with.
