The Federal Govern- ment has appointed Mordecai Danteni Baba Ladan as the new di- rector for the Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR), the country’s oil and gas industry regulator.

The new director is tak- ing over from George Osa- hon whose tenure elapsed June 19, 2015.

According to a statement on the website of the DPR, Monday, the Federal Govern- ment made the appointment in memorandum dated June 19, 2015.

The appointment is with immediate effect.

The new director, accord- ing to the statement, is a pet- rochemist by profession, who joined DPR on November 23, 1987, as a senior analytical chemist, and was deployed to the safety and environ- ment branch under the then Technical Services Division.

Ladan rose through the ranks to occupy various key positions within the organisa- tion, including zonal opera- tions controller, DPR Kaduna.

The DPR said: “Having attained the rank of deputy director, he was appointed head, Downstream Monitor- ing and Regulation Division October 2005 – June 2013.
