Mudashiru Obasa, the ousted speaker of Lagos State House of Assembly, said he has resumed his position as the head of the legislative arm.

Obasa, who was abroad when his colleagues unanimously removed him on January 13, stormed the assembly’s complex on Thursday and immediately entered the speaker’s office.

“I’ve resumed, and I remain the Speaker of the Assembly,” Obasa said.

Obasa’s return comes a few hours after the security details of his successor, Mojisola Meranda, were withdrawn.

Segun Ajiboye, the chief press secretary to Meranda, confirmed the developments, accusing Obasa and his team of allegedly breaking into the office.
