Olubunmi Kuku, the managing director Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has further implemented the Annual Firefighters Medical Certification Tests to be carried out on all the FAAN Firefighters across all the Airports in the country.

Kuku was quoted as saying: “I will not take the health of the Firefighters for granted because their job is hazardous. Besides, health is wealth.”

The Annual Firefighters Medical Certification Tests is a comprehensive medical fitness test carried out to ascertain the health status of FAAN Firefighters, in view of the hazardous nature of the firefighting job.

This Exercise is the first of its kind in FAAN. It is supposed to encompass all the Firefighters across all the Airports in Nigeria. The overall objective of the Exercise is to mitigate mortality in active service.

Ugbeikwu Sunday, the National President of NAFSA, during an interview session commended Kuku for her commitment to the health and well-being of FAAN Firefighters.

Ugbeikwu said: “The National Leadership of NAFSA wishes to laud the MD/CE FAAN on the implementation of the Firefighters Annual Medical Certification Test which had been concluded in some International Airports.”

He added: “We appreciate the FAAN Management for the success of the Exercise. However, we wish to request that the Exercise should be extended to the other Domestic Airports across the country as the health and well-being of all the Firefighters are equally paramount.”
