The current acute fuel shortage in the country has thrown some parts of Lagos metropolis in total darkness as street lights illuminating the areas have gone off.

Some of the streets and bridges affected are Eko Bridge, Funsho Williams Avenue, Oshodi-Apapa Expressway, Iju Road, Akerele Street, Adeniran Ogunsanya Street, Muritala Mohammed Way, Ogudu Road, Fatai Atere Way and surrounding streets within Mushin, Itire Road, Awolowo Road, Falomo Bridge, Keystone Crescent, Adeyemo Alakija Street, Sanusi Fafunwa Street, Adeola Hopewell Street, Adeola Odeku, Akin Adesola, Raymond Njoku and Maduike streets.

Damilolan Ogunbiyi, the general manager of the Lagos State Electricity Board (LSEB), an agency responsibility for illuminating the state with street lights, said due to the petroleum products scarcity, the agency is unable to source fuel to power some of the street lights.
