Campaign for Gbajabiamila continue as members-elect arrive for inauguration

The campaign for the election of Femi Gbajabiamila as the next Speaker of the House of Representatives has continued at the National Assembly Complex as Members-elect arrived for their inauguration.

Members-elect particularly first term members on the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC who started trooping into the Green Chamber as early as 8:30 am were heard chanting Gbaja/Wase! Gbaja/Wase! Gbaja/Wase.

Gbajabiamila (APC, Lagos),  Umaru Bago (APC Niger), John Dyegh (APC, Benue) and Olajide Olatubosun (APC, Oyo) are contesting for the position of the 9th Speaker of the House.

While Gbajabiamila has been adopted and endorsed with Ahmed Wase for the Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the 9th Assembly by APC, Bago an APC lawmaker has been adopted by the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP for Speakership, leaving Dyegh and Olatubosun without the backing of any political party.

Inauguration and election of presiding officers for the House would begin shortly after the conclusion of the same process in the Senate later in the day.
