Women should lead the change they desire – Olugboji

Nike Olugboji

Founder and Chief Executive Officer, CEO, Women Initiative For Sustainable Environment (WISE), Nike Olugboji has charged women to be the author of their own change.

She urged women not to relent in their efforts to become independent set of people.

Olugboji made the charge while addressing a group of women during a town hall meeting to mark the 2019 International Women’s Day in Kaduna, where she said women are untapped resources.

She said women must realised their potentials and make use of any opportunity that comes their way to change the narrative of been dependent.

Olugboji who is always passionate about women’s leadership says: ” the objective of my NGO is to continuously creating space and awareness on how women can draw inspiration from the likes of others who had made it in the society.

” The ideology to empower women is not a contest between women and men but, to form a synergy for the betterment of the society.

According to her, the NGO has offered several trainings to women and that it is on the front burner to have access to clean energy for women.

“World Health Organisation, WHO, had reported in 2015 that ninety three thousand women died of smoke related diseases annually. This is a big challenge to women, and that is the reason why we are promoting access to clean energy for women”, she explained.

Olugboji urged that women should see themselves as role models.

Binta Yahya, a beneficiary of the WISE’s empowerment programme said five people are currently working under him.
