Babatunde Fashola, minister of works, power and housing has congratulated winner of Lagos gubernatorial election, Babajide Sanwo-Olu of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Fashola, also a former governor of Lagos State, also greeted Jimi Agbaje, candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and major challenger of the APC in the election which held on Saturday, March 9.

Fashola in his official twitter handle said: “Well Done JK (referring to Jimi Agbaje), Congrats BOS (referring to Sanwo-Olu).

Sanwo-Olu received a total of 739, 445 votes to beat his closest rival, Agbaje, who secured 206, 141 votes.

Meanwhile, a chieftain of the PDP and senatorial candidate of the party for Lagos East, Kunle Koye, has said the results did not reflect the will of Lagosians.

He alleged that the ruling APC intimidated voters in strongholds of the PDP, while there were widespread vote buying by the APC.

Koye also accused INEC of colluding with the APC to derail election in the state, adding that election materials were deliberately supplied late to PDP strongholds, while results were manipulated.

According to him, “This can not be called an election, you can see what transpired in several PDP strongholds in the state; election materials were deliberately supplied late and cases of vote buying and intimidation of voters were high in PDP dominated areas.”

He, however, said the PDP has learnt from its poor outing in the elections and would go back to the drawing board ahead of future elections.
