The  Akwa Ibom State police command  has denied media reports that there was a bomb blast in the campaign office of one of  the political parties in the state.
Police spokesperson, DSP Odiko MacDon told journalists in his office in Uyo,  the state capital  that sporadic gun shots “were heard at the venue” adding that the sound of the shooting led to people running for safety.
He said the incident occurred around 7:30pm on Tuesday adding that the command swiftly deployed men of the Special  Anti Robbery  Squad to the scene.
According to him,  one Ndifreke Sunday,  a male  sustained injury and was taken the police clinic for treatment denying that there was no bomb blast or explosion as , erroneously reported.
He promised  that the command would continue to remain apolitical, neutral and committed to a free and peaceful  2019 general election.
