A social-cultural group under the auspices of Ohaeneze Ndi-Igbo, Delta Central and South Senatorial District, on Thursday officially reaffirmed and endorsed Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State as their preferred candidate for the March 9 gubernatorial and State House of Assembly
elections.
The group who made this endorsement during a National Press Conference held at Jubilee Retreat and Conference Center, Effurun said the endorsement was necessary to allow Governor Okowa continue his massive developmental stride as witnessed in the state during his first term.
Addressing journalists at the press conference, President of the Ohaeneze Ndi-Igbo, Delta Central and South Senatorial District, Hon Michael Nnajiofor, said Governor Okowa has done a lot for the Ndi-Igbo in the state adding that they have never had it this good.

The group also endorsed all PDP candidates who will contest election in the state.

Nnajiofor who reeled out some of the achievements of the governor said the Ndi-Igbos in the state have resolved that he should continue the good work till 2023.

He noted that the unanimous endorsement of Governor Okowa cristalizes his sterling qualities and performance in the last three years, adding that it has also heralded lasting peace and unity among indigenes and non-indigenes in the state.
“Your achievements in all ramification of governance is second to none in the area of infrastructure, especially in very difficult terrain where your predecessor avoided with excuses.
“So many roads are completed while some are at completion stage. You are indeed a road master,” Nnajiofor said.
Responding, Governor Okowa who was represented by a former Delta State Commissioner for Health, Dr Joseph Otumara, commended Ohaneze Ndi-Igbo for endorsing him as their sole candidate for the March 9 gubernatorial elections.
He urged the group to come out and vote in their large numbers on March 9, adding he explicitly trusted them that they will caste their vote for him.
“I want to urge you to bring your brothers and sisters, because there will be no sitting at home until victory is ours. And remember that as you vote, the umbrella will be your emblem. So please vote wisely,” Okowa said.
The governor also said that he will reciprocate the gesture saying “politics is about give and take, as you have remembered the governor and this party in this manner, we shall also remember you in Jesus name.”
Governor Okowa added that he knew that even without the formal endorsement, the result of the last election has indicated that the Ohaneze Ndi-Igbo are totally with the PDP.
