Akwa Ibom police command deploys 9210 officers for election duty

The Akwa ibom police commaand says it has deployed 9210 policemen and personnel from  sister security  agencies to all the polling units, collation centress and flash points across the state.
Odiko MacDon,  Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) and spokesman for the command stated this in a statement  made available to the media in Uyo,  the state capital.
He said the deployment of the policemen was part of the strategies adopted by the command to ensure peaceful  elections in the 31 local government  areas of the state.
“For the purpose of effective policing, the Command has deployed nine thousand, two hundred and ten (9210) Policemen and sister security agencies to all the polling units, collation centres, and flash points across the State, the statement said.
It to remindwd the public that movement of persons and vehicles across the State would be be restricted from 6:00am to 6:00pm of Saturday 23rd February, 2019, and Saturday 9th March, 2019, except persons on essential duties who must carry their valid identification cards.
The statement also advised people to adhere strictly to the restriction order as violators will be dealt with in accordance with extant Laws.
According  to the PPRO, voters are advised to conduct themselves in an orderly and peaceful manner during and after the exercise as the Command is prepared to deal decisively with anyone bent on causing any form of violence or a breach of the peace before, during and after the elections.
