2019 Polls: Buhari boasts, “Nobody will unseat me”

How enticing Nigerian Eurobonds can help local investors mitigate currency risks

President Muhammadu Buhari has declared that nobody will unseat him, ahead of the 2019 Presidential election.

This was contained in an interview he granted CNN Africa on Friday, where he dismissed suggestions that he has no stamina to run the country for another four years.

Buhari who promised that he would do his best to curtail the Boko Haram insurgency in the north east if re-elected, also applauded  Western nation’s support in the battle to rid the nation of the insurgents

Responding to claims that he lacked the requisite stamina for another term, Buhari boasted that he has done it before, adding “So, they can give you another answer.”

Asked if he is ready to take the country forward for another four years?, he responded thus, “Yes. I’m ready for it”

On Boko Haram and his plans to stop them, he said “Well, my plans is that, as I mentioned to the general public now, they used to hold 17 local governments. We have in this country constitutionally, 774 local governments. They used to hold 17. They are not technically holding any local government now but they are indoctrinating young men and women, especially girls, wrap them up with explosives and let them explode it on soft targets, churches, mosques, market places, motor parks and other places.

Will military be able to stop this terror?

Of course, we are doing our best. And we thank the foreign countries, Europe and United States for training our armed forces and going to the front to see how they are performing after their training.

One final question. This is a vibrant democracy, you came in, unseating the incumbent. Are you worried the same could happen to you?

“No. Nobody will unseat me” he said.
