Thirty-one political parties under the umbrella of Coalition of Progressives Political Parties on Thursday adopted the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Sani Abubakar Danladi as their candidate for the forthcoming election in the state.
The state chairman of the coalition Abdulahi Bello ,who disclosed this at a Press briefing in Jalingo on Thursday said that the choice of the APC candidate was informed after due consideration of all the candidates and their programs for the state.
Bello said that the candidates were each asked why they wanted to rule the state and what they intend doing for the state and after considering their responses,  the committee resolved that the candidate of the APC, who acted as the state governor for six months prior to the 2015 general election was the most viable option.
“Gentlemen of the press, today we are here to adopt the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress APC Sani Abubakar Danladi and the governorship candidate of this coalition for the forthcoming general election in the state. This coalition consists of thirty one political parties.
“Let me make it clear to you that we have considered all the candidates and have given them the chance to prove their worth and we arrived at this decision to adopt Danladi  based on his outstanding antecedents and the programs he has for the state.
“At this point,  we need a Governor who will help to unite the state and bring the needed development rather than someone who would further cause division along religious and ethnic lines.”
While responding,  the governorship candidate Sani Abubakar Danladi said that he was overwhelmed by the sense of unity of purpose and oneness that has informed the decision of the group to adopt him as their candidate.
Danladi pledged to work hard to make sure that the state was reunited and repositioned for development.
He alleged that the PDP government was planning to disrupt the polls but urged the people to remain resolute and to protect their votes without been violent.
