President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday lampooned the National Assembly for passing badly mutilated budget, saying that ordinarily, he would not have signed the budget, but for the need to prevent shutdown of the economy.

The President stated this when he signed the N9.120trn 2018 budget, into law at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, Wednesday.

The  President who complained that major provisions in the 2018 budget he presented to the National Assembly were either removed or drastically reduced, said he will however send a Supplementary budget to the National Assembly.

The Senate President, Bukola Saraki and Speaker of the House of Representatives were conspicuously absent st the traditional signing ceremony but were represented by the Chairmen of Appropriation Committees of both upper and Lower Legislative Chambers.
