A few minutes ago the federal executive council (FEC) concluded its first meeting following Buhari’s health vacation. After the meeting, Lai Mohammed, Minister of Information; Okechukwu Enelamah, Minister of Trade and Investment; Isaac Adewole, Minister of Health; and Chibuike Amechi, Minister of Transport briefed press men.

Below were some of the key approvals that came out of the meeting chaired by the Acting President, Yemi Osinbajo.

 

  • The FEC approved memo for establishment of a Nigeria Office for Trade Negotiations. The new office according to Enelamah, will be headed by a Chief Trade Negotiator of Ambassodor rank, to report to Economic Management Team, and Cabinet.
  • A memo to introduce new Yellow Card with advanced security features was approved. Rollout will be announced later.
  • FEC also approved start of negotiations with General Electric to conclude concessioning of Lagos-Kano and Port Harcourt- Maiduguri narrow gauge lines.
  • Finally, it also approved consultants who will oversee construction of Lagos-Ibadan standard-gauge railway project.
