President Buhari has said that the advances against the Boko Haram sect go beyond degradation through just force of arms.

He was speaking on the sidelines of the 71st session of the UN General assembly at a bilateral meeting with South Africa’s President Jacob Zuma in New York.

“The de-radicalization process is also going on, and we are achieving some measure of success. Even suicide bombing is becoming rare, as the local people are themselves rejecting indoctrination by the insurgents’’, he said.

In a bid to diversify the economy, Buhari said that his government was willing to collaborate with South African businessmen especially in the areas of minning and agriculture to promote both economies and trade partnerships.

He also assured investors of the security of their lives, investments and returns on investments as the country was a lot more secure and conducive for business growth.

While reviewing the situation in Guinea Bissau, President Buhari and Senegalese President, Macky Sall said that there is need for political leaders to make sacrifices that will guarantee peace and brig development to their countries.

Guinea Bissau is currently facing a political impasse that has prevented the parliament from agreeing to a budget cutting off access to international aid.

The country faces a budget shortfall after the IMF said it would withhold future payments unless the government backtracks on loan bailouts for two private banks.
