‎Former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) national chairman, Barnabas Gemade, has asked President Muhammadu Buhari to prevail on security agencies to end the spate of killings in the country by herdsmen.

Gemade who made this demand in Abuja Wednesday, lamented that herdsmen had practically removed several communities ‎in Benue State particularly those in the Tiv land through the orgy of killings and maimings carried out in the area by the nomadic cattle rearers.

He furthur pleaded with the President to direct the security forces fighting terrorists, cattle rustlers and armed herdsmen to double their efforts and tackle “Armed Herdsmen” killing innocent people in Benue and other parts of the country.

‎The politician, who is the Chairman, Senate Committee on Housing, noted that as a result of the killings, huge refuge camps had been set up at Yogbo, Ortese and Daudu and the border town of Kadroko all in Guma local government area of Benue State.

Gemade assured the President of his continuous support and of Benue people in his fight against corruption and insurgency.
