In its resolve to make the Abia State workforce computer compliant, the state government is to empower civil servants with 5000 laptops, which will be distributed in two phases.
According to Tom Chima Obiazi, chairman/chief executive of Pyce Technologies Limited, one of the firms partnering Abia in this project, the first phase, which was flagged off barely three weeks ago by the state government, will see 2000 civil servants benefitting from the distribution while 3000 other workers will have their own turn in the second phase.
Obiazi, who spoke through his business development manager, Patrick Omofe Agoro, said Abia State government had demonstrated its commitment to this project both in words and action.
He said his firm intended to go into more partnership with the state in the areas of estate development, transportation and power projects, among others.
It would be recalled that Vivian Umah, the state head of service, while flagging off the first phase of distribution of the lap, noted that the state civil service had arrived with the distribution of the laptops in the state as ICT would enhance efficiency in their daily duties.
Umah disclosed that Governor Okezie Ikpeazu had many good incentives for the Abia workforce so numerous to mention, adding that the distribution of laptops was one of such.
The Abia head of service commended Mutual Alliance Investments and Securities Limited and Pyce Technologies Limited for being faithful and steadfast in the partnership.
