The Konamii Africa, an initiative of Change Africa foundation held a charity games at the Campos mini stadium, Igbosere, Lagos Island on Saturday July 30th. The event was co-sponsored by Meristem Securities Limited had in attendance thousands of youths from various parts of the city.

 

Despite the heavy downpour of the day; the youths came out en masse to support the kids.

This year was the 4th edition of the annual charity soccer fiesta that featured six orphanage homes up from four in previous editions. The six participating orphanage homes were; Lekki Motherless Babies Home, Sought After Orphanage Home, Peculiar Saints Orphanage Home, Olive Bloom Orphanage Home, Heritage Orphanage Home and Makoko Floating School.

 

Amongst the A –list artistes who came out to celebrate the kids from the homes include; Adekunle Gold, Akpororo, AY Makun, LAX, MTV VJ Ehis, Sexy Steel, Mayorkun.

 

Speaking on the event, Solape Akinpelu, the Brand Management Officer of Meristem Group, in a chat with BusinessDay correspondent confirmed that Meristem Securities Limited partnered with Change Africa Foundation on Konamii Africa as the essence of the event resonates with the Meristem Brand.

 

“We are a friendly brand that strongly believes in giving back to the society especially the less-celebrated.

 

“We believe in empowering youths and empowerment starts with recognition especially in a status-oriented society like ours. Meristem is indeed proud to be associated with a great cause like this,’ she said.

 

The Konamii Initaive is a brain child of Change Africa Foundation. The core aim of the initiative is to raise funds for orphanage homes; bridge the gap between the privilege and less privileged and most importantly, give orphans a sense of belonging in the society.
