Stallions new coach Ayodele Bakare is optimistic his new side, the Stallions basketball team will bounce back to winning ways, this comes in a wake of Stallions fourth straight loss to high flying Lagos Warriors in the African Basketball League.

The Stallions suffered a loss in Bakare’s first official game as the coach of Stallions basketball team making it the fourth loss of his side in the African Basketball League, but the ex-National Team coach is optimistic of transforming the team to a formidable side.

“Am not happy about losing the game, but am happy about the steps we have taken forward with the team. Am pleased with the way they are playing now.

“We are learning to move the ball better, play at a faster space at offence, at defense, we are not doing well at the moment. We need to walk on our rebounding, ” Bakare said in a chat with BusinessDay sports correspondent.

“Although, we are a small team, but we will improve on these areas, though it will take some time.”

Speaking on his side lose of concentration in the game against the Lagos Warriors, coach Bakare assured fans that improvement will soon be seen in the Stallions.

“It doesn’t not matter if this is my first game, the concern is that we have lost four games, but we saw some good things in the team which we hope to build on in coming matches.

“I cautioned when I took this job that its not going to be magic, we have to be patient and build on the new steps we are taking forward.

“We must not lose confidence; we have to keep our eyes on the prize. We will be a good team, am confidence of that, it may take time, but we will be a great team, Bakare assured.”

Concerned about the undersized players in his team, Bakare speaks further on his plans to work things out.

“We are taking care of the size difference with different strategies, we have identified this long time ago, and we are working towards that.

There are two options towards it, first, if we can find two big sized players that will help our course at the forward line. It’s clearly obvious to everybody that we need some big sized players.

But if we can’t find big sized players, then we play with what we have and hope to get better at the strategies we apply.
