Arsene Wenger has been offered a new three-year deal, according to Piers Morgan.
The Gunners are third in the Premier League, 11 points behind leaders Leicester City with a game in hand.
After a poor 2016, the Gunners have fallen below the Foxes and bitter rivals Tottenham in the race for the title, Arsenal have won just one of their last six league matches.
Fans are growing increasingly frustrated with their long-serving French manager, with their last Premier League title coming in 2004.
The 66-year-old’s current deal expires in 2017, but Arsenal fan and journalist Morgan claims to have been told of a new deal that is on the table for Wenger to sign.
“I’ve been told on very good authority that Wenger’s been offered a new 3-yr contract by Arsenal.
If true, utterly outrageous,” Piers Morgan
After his claims, Morgan’s replies were full of anti-Wenger fans, Wenger fans and fans of other clubs poking fun at the news – see some of the best reaction on twitter!
“If Wenger does get a 3yr deal then it shows you exactly where @Arsenal are heading…towards mediocrity”. #afc @tonyafc66
“Wenger staying at the club is the right decision, unreal decision making by the board”. #AFC Talal @FlamIsTheMan
“Everything must be done to prevent Wenger from signing a new contract. Indeed he must go this summer, no matter what”.
