Truecaller app detects 120,000 spam calls in Nigeria daily

A recent report from Truecaller Technology company revealed that the user community based application detects a total of 120, 000 spam and unwanted calls every day across the country. The company has reported over 2 million spam calls in total in Nigeria through its app.

Truecaller is a search technology company that is transforming the phonebook with a set of intelligent and useful services, like allowing the user to search for any phone number, identify callers by name and photo and block unwanted calls or hidden numbers. The innovative app also allows users to receive assistance from its database where spam numbers are listed and marked in red. The app is available on all Internet enabled devices and on the web.

Truecaller’s data highlights an issue that is becoming an increasing cause for concern in Nigeria as spammers become more adept at harassing and taking advantage of smartphone users.
